After graduating he has been an assistant to his professor for four years. As a student Temirzhan Yerzhanov won the First Prize and Gold Medal at the XI Robert Schumann International Piano Competition in 1993 in Zwickau, Germany, that gave him an opportunity to perform on the professional stage. He appeared in recitals and chamber music concerts in Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, Italy, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, Czech Republic; with such orchestras as Zwickauer Philharmoniker, Soloists of Tchaikovsky Symphony of Moscow Radio, Kazakh Symphony, Kazakh Abai Opera and other orchestras of Russia and Kazakhstan. Temirzhan Yerzhanov made recordings for German Radio Berlin, Kazakh TV and Russian leading label - RCD Records. Since 2002 Temirzhan Yerzhanov has been residing in the Bay Area. He made his first American debut in recital at the Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts and in Pianomania event in Walnut Creek. Javier Gonzales Born in Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, Cuba on March 1, 1977, Javier Gonzalez, began his music studies at the age of 7 in Havana, Cuba. He won Grand Prize and First Prize at the 5th editions of the "Amadeo Roldan" National Piano Competitions and special mentions for Best Interpretation of the Latin American and Cuban music, and won second prize at the "Ernesto Lecuona International Piano Competition. Javier was awarded the first prize in the best interpretation of Cuban music at the UNEAC '99 Interpretation Competition, and third prize at the "Ignacio Cervantes" International Piano Competition, Nov. 2000 in Havana, Cuba. He has performed internationally in Colombia, Mexico, Jamaica, Barbados, Italy, and Venezuela. Javier arrived in the US on July 15, 2002, and lives in Atherton, Ca. where he attends the Master Program at the SF Conservatory and studies piano with Mack McCray. He has recently recorded his first CD, which includes various Universal, Cuban and Latin works. ![]() Lino Rivera Born in the Philippines, Lino Rivera began his piano studies at age six and has since performed as a solo recitalist, concerto soloist, and accompanist on three continents. He has been featured on radio and television broadcasts, notably live concerto performances with the Manila Symphony Orchestra and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. In the United States and Europe he has performed with the Annapolis Symphony, the Oakland Civic Orchestra, and premiered new compositions with the Sacramento Symphony. Other appearances include the Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), Davies Symphony Hall (San Francisco), and concerts in Russia, Germany, and Belgium. While in Berlin, Mr. Rivera acted as Antal Dorati's pianist in preparing fora series of concerts for the prevention of nuclear war by the European Symphony Orchestra and the Maryland Chorus (1988). Mr. Rivera is a winner in many music competitions including the Music Teachers' National Association Competition in Hawaii and the University of Hawaii Concerto Competition. Upon receiving his Master's degree from the University of Hawaii, he was awarded the distinguished Pianist Prize, won first place in the Elizabeth Davis Competition, and coached extensively with the Guarneri String Quartet. His dedication to seldom-performed piano literature resulted in his 1997 doctoral dissertation on the piano transcriptions of great Romantic pianist/composers. His main teachers include Stella Brimo, Edward Shipwright, Anne Koschielny, and Thomas Schumacher. Having completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland, Dr. Rivera now resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. Victoria Neve Victoria Neve has distinguished herself as a piano soloist, chamber musician, duo pianist and accompanist in concerts throughout the United States. Her appearances include presentations for the College Music Society, the National Conference on Women in Music, the Memphis State Music Festival, the State Convention of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, and the national convention of the Music Teachers National Association. Dr. Neve has been heard on radio as a piano soloist on the National Public Radio series "Early American Keyboard Music" and on the San Francisco State University "University Concert Series," as well as on stations KQED in San Francisco, KPFA in Berkeley, the University of California at Santa Cruz radio station, and KMVR in Northern California. Her repertoire ranges from the music of the early Classic composers, performed on a period instrument, through the 20th Century. In 2000 and 2001 she toured California with performances of George Crumb's Makrokosmos, Volumes I and II, for solo amplified piano. She also gives pre-concert informances for the Pro Arts Symphony Orchestra and is on the Piano Faculty at San Francisco State University. ![]() Antonio Iturrioz Antonio Iturrioz was born in Cuba and came to this country when he was very young. He played his first concert when he was 9 years old. At the age of 15 he made his orchestral debut playing Liszt's First Piano Concerto. He considers his primary music mentors to be his father Pablo Iturrioz, Francisco DeHoyos (a pupil of Gyorgi Sandor), Bernardo Segall who studied with Alexander Siloti who was a pupil of Franz Liszt, and Julian White. Mr. Iturrioz has participated in master classes with Byron Janis and Andre Watts. An injury to his right hand interrupted his career for several years, during which time he developed a formidable repertoire of left-hand piano works, including the complete Chopin-Godowsky transcriptions. He has an extensive repertoire that ranges from Scarlatti to present day composers, and plays the complete piano works of Robert Schumann. He was the recipient of the Los Angeles Young Musicians Foundation Tushinsky Memorial Scholarship Award, and the Dewars Young Artists Award. He continues to perform throughout the United States and played in Europe in 1997. The Cuban pianist Jorge Bolet once said that Mr. Iturrioz was born to play the piano. Mr. Itunioz has recorded two CD's, released through Artists.com. -- The Davidsbundler OP. 6 by Robert Schumann which also includes the Benediction of God in the Solitude" by Franz Liszt, and The Art of the Left Hand featuring the works of Scriabin, Chopin-Godowsky, the Bach-Brahms Chaconne, and others. ![]() Dale Tsang Hall Dale Tsang-Hall is currently a faculty member at Diablo Valley College and Laney College. She earned her BM from the University of Southern California, studying with Professor John Perry, her MM at the University of Michigan, studying with Dickran Atamian, and her DMA from Rice University, studying with Professor John Perry. She recently won first place in the 2001 Carmel Music Society Competition. She was a solo-round competitor in the 1997 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and a semi-finalist in the 1999 Washington International Competition, and has taken prizes in the Corpus Christi Young Artists' Competition, the University of Michigan Concerto Competition and the Rice University Concerto Competition. April 30, 2000: Pianomania Fifth Anniversary Gala Concert featuring Bay Area EXTREME Pianists, Audry Andrist, Mack McCray, Rosemary O'Connor, Betty Woo, Robert Kwok and Natasha Paremski.
